Who can reschedule games?

Town program administrators can decide who in their program can edit (reschedule) games. SportsManager offers three levels of access: "Administrator", "Organization Official", and "User". The three passwords for these levels are set on the "Edit Organizational Info" screen, which you get to by clicking the "Organizational Info" button in the left-hand navigation area. Only "Administrator" or "Organization Official" users can edit games. Some towns limit rescheduling priviledges to the organization president. Others allow all coaches to reschedule games. Note that once given the priviledge, coaches can reschedule games for any team in your program...not just their own.

RECOMMENDATION: If you allow coaches to reschedule games, give them the "Organization Official" password (and not the "Adminstrator" password) to maintain the security of your SportsManager site.

Rescheduling games before they are played

If you need to reschedule a future (unplayed) game, check to see whether an umpire has been assigned. Games that have umpires assigned are locked and can only be edited by the Umpire Assigners or Dave Peters. If this is the case, the HOME TEAM should email the appropriate umpire assigner (see table to the right) with the game details (originally scheduled date, time and location) and the proposed date, time and location. PLEASE give assigners at least one week to find an umpire (unless you are adding a game to an existing Sunday schedule, which should be easier).

If the game does not have an umpire assigned then the HOME TEAM can edit the game and change the date, time and location. The game will stay on the umpire assigners' schedules. Weekday game rescheduling in April and May will be almost impossible because umpires are doing high school games. However, if you can schedule a game immediately after a high school freshman game it should be easy to get the umpire to stay for the game. If you can play on the high school freshman field, contact your local high school to get the schedule.

The morning after each game SportsManager will send an email to both coaches (see example to the right). Clicking on the "Confirm This Game" link will bring you the SportsManager "Confirm Game/Game Summary" page.

Indicate whether the referee(s) were at the game.

If the game was completed, simply click the "Save Score/Summary" button. Do not enter a Game Summary...it will not be saved or displayed.

If the game was not completed, click on "Game was Not Completed (Cancelled). The screen will then display two additional choices.

If the game should be rescheduled, click on this option. If the game should not be rescheduled for any reason, click on that option. Click "Save Score/Summary".

If either coach indicates that the game should be rescheduled then the game will be available for the home team to reschedule.

SportsManager will allow the home team to edit the date, field and time of the game (but not the opponents). Enter a future date, time and location that the two coaches have agreed to and click on "Save Game". The game will reappear on the umpire assigners' schedules.
