Mass Bay Girls Lacrosse League (MBGLL) is a Sunday afternoon recreational program located in Eastern Massachusetts. We organize and operate a program for more than 8,000 young girls' lacrosse players. In 2014 we will have 88 different towns represented with over 400 teams in 1st through 8th grade. MBGLL started the MBGLL Select League during the 2010-2011 season to offer U13 and U15 players the opportunity to compete at a higher level of competition on their town's team. Our mission is to promote girls' youth lacrosse in an environment that emphasizes fun, while developing skills, teamwork, good sportsmanship, and integrity.

Upcoming Training

Hello.  This is a reminder that we are hosting a US Lacrosse Level 1 Coaches' Clinic in Reading on Saturday, January 31 in Reading.  Please register at www.uslacrosse.org.

All US Lacrosse Level 1 and Level 2 trainings are posted on uslacrosse.org.  Please register early to ensure your place in the training.  Many of the Level 1 clinics sell out.  As a reminder, US Lacrosse is including a PCA component in all Level 1 clinics.

This is also a reminder that MBGLL is hosting a Rules Clinic and Rules Q. and A. session on Saturday, February 7 in Ipswich.  Please register on www.mbgll.org under "individual registrations."  All Rules Clinics and Rules Q. and A. clinics are listed on mbgll.org.  As a reminder, every coach must attend a Rules Clinic and/or a Rules Q. and A. session annually.  February 7 is the only date this winter that we are hosting these two clinics in the North division.

I hope to see you there.

Best,

MBGLL Deadline Reminder

Hello everyone.  If you are not part of MBGLL, please disregard this message.

Recreational Registration

MBGLL, this is a reminder that the last date to register your recreational teams is this Thursday, January 15th.  A late fee will kick in starting on January 16th.  As a prerequisite to registering, you must have volunteered for a position to help the league with something throughout the year.  Please contact your division director to volunteer and then you will receive the registration links.  Please remember that board members work day jobs so you may not hear from them until the evening.

If you don't know whether or not someone from your town has registered, please visit www.mbgll.org and look under "rules" "sportsmanship and compliance" "towns that have volunteered."

Charlestown Play Date

While registering, don't forget to sign up for the Charlestown Play Date.  It is free and is a fantastic opportunity for your teams to get together to play prior to the start of the season.  This is open to U13 and U15 teams.  It is also a great service that we provide for our officials so that they are able to practice prior to the start of the season.

Rules Training

We also have lots of other coaches' training opportunities available under "individual registrations."  Please get your coaches registered for either a Rules Clinic or a Rules Q. and A. session.

US Lacrosse Level 1 and Level 2 Coaches' Clinics

US Lacrosse Level 1 and Level 2 Coaches' Clinics are posted on www.uslacrosse.org under continuing education.  We are offering 4 Level 1 clinics and 1 Level 2 clinic this year.

New England Youth & High School Women's Lacrosse Coaches' Convention

Finally, don't forget to register your coaches for the New England Youth & High School Women's Lacrosse Coaches' Convention.  There are 12 top coaches speaking on topics ranging from

Between the Lines:  The Transition and the Ride (Courtney Farrell, Tufts)

Zone Defense in Ride and Settled Positions (Emily Kiablick, Wheaton College)

Sports Injuries and Prevention: ACL, Concussions (Laura Darby McNally, US Lacrosse Sports, Science & Safety Committee; Middlesex School)

MBGLL Select League Registration

March 5 is the last date to register a MBGLL Select team and pay by check.  Registration closes for credit card payments on April 1.  Late fees apply on April 2.  Please register your team via the registration link that you received after your town volunteered to help with MBGLL.

MBGLL Charlestown Play Date

Registration is now open for MBGLL’s Charlestown Play Date, scheduled on the afternoon of March 29.  This is a free event for U13 and U15 teams to play pre-season with their teammates.  It is a wonderful opportunity to work out the cobwebs and get some playing time on a turf field before the season starts.  This event also acts as a training opportunity for our officials – which makes them more skilled during the season.  Registration is first come, first served so register now on mbgll.org under “individual registrations.”

EMWLUA Officials Training

EMWLUA has its officials training clinics scheduled and posted.  Please consider sending someone from your town to the training.  As you know, we are short on officials and strongly encourage anyone interested in officiating to attend.  Register on www.emwlua.org

US Lacrosse Coaches’ Convention

The 2015 US Lacrosse Coaches’ Convention takes place January 23-25, 2015 in Baltimore.  If you are planning to attend, please send an email to director@mbgll.org.  A couple of our board members are attending and we’d love to meet up with you.

New – New England Youth & High School Women’s Lacrosse Coaches’ Convention

MBGLL is pleased to announce the creation of the New England Youth & High School Women’s Lacrosse Convention, scheduled on March 1 from 9a – 12p at Governor’s Academy (1 Elm St., Byfield MA 01922).  Many of our coaches are unable to attend the US Lacrosse National Convention so we teamed up with the women’s lacrosse high school coaches in New England to create a regional convention. Coaches will have the opportunity to learn from women’s lacrosse experts from around the nation without having to travel a great distance.  We have some terrific coaches and trainers lined up to share their knowledge and skills with you.  To register, go to www.mbgll.org and click on “individual registrations.” Or click New England Convention.

As a benefit to our member towns, we have created a $5 discount off of their registration fees.  Please ask your coaches/attendees to enter MBGLL's discount code when they register.  (Discount codes must be applied at the time of registration.)  If you don't have the discount code that was emailed to our towns, please contact your division director.   A portion of the proceeds from this convention will go to MBGLL so please support this inaugural New England Convention. Space is limited.  Early bird discounts apply if you register by January 15.  To learn more about the New England Youth & High School Women’s Lacrosse Coaches’ Convention, visit www.mbgll.org and click on “N.E. Convention.”
