Mass Bay Girls Lacrosse League (MBGLL) is a recreation program located in Eastern Massachusetts. We organize and operate a program for more than 8,000 young girls' lacrosse players. In 2014 we will have 86 different towns represented with over 400 teams in 1st through 8th grade. MBGLL started the MBGLL Select League during the 2010-2011 season to offer U13 and U15 players the opportunity to compete at a higher level of competition on their town's team. Our mission is to promote girls' youth lacrosse in an environment that emphasizes fun, while developing skills, teamwork, good sportsmanship, and integrity.

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard Athletics hosted the Mass Bay Girls Lacrosse League for a day dedicated to the development of young lacrosse players Saturday at Harvard Stadium.

Twelve teams from local communities around the state traveled to Harvard for the fourth consecutive year. The teams began the day with scrimmages on Harvard facilities before attending Positive Coaching Alliance Workshops. The groups finished up the day watching the Harvard women's lacrosse team down Brown, 10-4. Members of the Harvard squad signed autographs for their visitors.

"We love being at Harvard and love supporting the Crimson," said Executive Director of the MBGLL, Christine Habermann. "The whole day is really beneficial to the girls, from playing on the field to learning what it means to be a true athlete from Positive Coaching Alliance and ultimately watching these great mentors of the game compete at such a high level."

Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) is a national non-profit organization with the mission to transform the culture of youth sports so that youth athletes have a positive, character-building experience. PCA achieves its goals primarily by providing training workshops to coaches, parents, and administrators of schools and youth sports organizations in the United States. Founded in 1998, PCA has conducted more than 10,000 workshops for more than 1,700 schools and youth sports organizations, affecting more than 4.5 million youth and high school athletes.

"It's great to see so many opportunities available for young girls to play lacrosse " said Harvard Women's Lacrosse Head Coach Lisa Miller following her team's win over Ivy foe Brown. "We're very grateful that the MBGLL continues to come to Harvard every year and brings so many fans to cheer on our program."

Mass Bay Girls Lacrosse League (MBGLL) is a recreation organization located in Eastern Massachusetts that organizes and operates a program for more than 8,000 young female lacrosse players. Lacrosse Balls for 2014
by posted 08/24/2013

As you may know, as of January 1, 2014, ALL lacrosse balls used for play MUST have the NOCSAE seal on the ball (it must say “meets NOCSAE standard” on the ball).

NOCSAE is the National Operating Committee on Standards for Athletic Equipment, who commissions research in sports medicine & science and establishes standards for athletic equipment.  To read more about the rule change, please read the article, What’s in a Ball? which originally appeared in Lacrosse Magazine in January 2013.

This rule was inserted into the US Lacrosse rulebook last year.

This is a rule change for the boys and girls game.  Manufacturers are making these balls but they have not hit the shelves of retailers to date.  It will be beneficial to order now from your local retailer to be placed on a list and not wait for the spring, when quantities could become limited.  Officials will be reminded that only balls with the NOCSAE seal will be allowed for play and we don’t want games canceled or postponed because of this change.
