Mass Bay Girls Lacrosse League (MBGLL) is a recreation program located in Eastern Massachusetts. We organize and operate a program for more than 6,000 young girls' lacrosse players. In 2012 we will have 86 different towns represented with over 400 teams in 1st through 8th grade. MBGLL started the MBGLL Select League during the 2010-2011 season to offer 5th through 8th grade players the opportunity to compete at a higher level of competition. Our mission is to promote girls' youth lacrosse in an environment that emphasizes fun, while developing skills, teamwork, good sportsmanship, and integrity.

IMPORTANT Schedule Updates - Please Read and Distribute
by posted 05/09/2012

We have successfully re-synchronized the schedule between mbgll.org's League Athletics and Arbiter web sites. We are beginning to see the benefits of this latest activity with the assigned and accepted umpire information beginning to update properly on the mbgll.org schedule.  As of this morning at 5:30 AM we have 85 umpire assignments in the mbgll.org schedule of the 187 assigned in Arbiter for the 198 games this Sunday. The 102 variance represents the number of umpires who have not yet accepted the assignment and is understandable since we  loaded schedule into Arbiter Tuesday morning and the assignments went out Tuesday during the day and evening. The umpire assignments on mbgll.org will continue to update on an ongoing basis.

You can view umpire assignments in the Master Schedule page under the Ofl col on the far right of the page. Umpire assignments are displayed as  0ARB: If there is a number other than 0 in this column, there are umpires assigned. Click on the game schedule in order to view the umpire.  If there is a 0 in the column this means that either on umpire has not been assigned or the assignment has not yet been accepted.  This is public information and you do not have to login to view it.

We have worked diligently over the last 4 months getting these systems setup and synchronized properly and we believe that we have worked out the majority of the issues.  During this last sync cycle only 4 gams did not load into Arbiter properly out of  835 and we are working to get these 4 in. The schedule on mbgll.org remains the system of record for games schedules. The umpire assignment in Arbiter remains the system of record for umpire assignments.  When in doubt, consult the source system and report any discrepancies or conflicts to .  While this has been a sometimes painful and annoying experience, we firmly believe that these platforms will support our core activities and position the league for the future growth.  We can finally look at managing league wide umpire  payments with these tools. We thank you for your patience as we fine tuned the setup and configuration.

Schedule Changes
We have removed schedule edit access privileges on mbgll.org since we were getting lots of last minute schedule changes that were not being coordinated properly with the umpires and the league.  The schedule may not be changed for 'convenience' and only for field availability or weather related cancelations.

In order to request a schedule change, send an email to containing the following information along with both coaches approval of the change (hint: copy/paste event information from the schedule):
Original Game Information:
Game Date
Game Time
Home Team
Away Team
Field

Game Change Information
Game Date
Game Time
Home Team
Away Team
Field

The scheduler will update the game in mbgll.org which will trigger an update to Arbiter.  The scheduler will also confirm the update with Robin our umpire assignor.  We will process schedule changes up through Thursday evening prior to the weekend games.  Any last minute changes after Thursday (weather or field related) must be communicated directly with the teams and officials.

The scheduler and assignor may reject the change if it creates a solo game or conflict with another game. The scheduler may also change the schedule to resolve conflicts or to relocate solo games and will notify both teams and assignor.  Note: We have seen a few U9 games conflict with other games since we ran that schedule independently and it ignored committed field times.  Teams may certainly find those and request a change prior to the scheduler doing it.

Thanks for reading through this long announcement.  As always, please communicate your feedback or questions to me or Christine.

Enjoy the second half of your season.

Jamboree Registration
by posted 05/08/2012

Hello MBGLL Members. The Jamboree Registration will open up this evening (May 8 after 8p). You may choose from any time slot (morning or afternoon) and from either the Byfield (June 16-17) or the Franklin (June 17) site. Please note that the U9 teams are scheduled to play on Sunday afternoon only at either location. U11 teams are not playing on Sunday afternoon.

Please poll your teams to ensure that you have enough players to field a team BEFORE you sign up. Cancellations make creating the schedule difficult.

Our Jamboree cancellation policy has changed slightly due to the late opening of our registration.

Registration will open May 8 (after 8p)
$50 Cancellation fee if received by May 20
$100 Cancellation fee if received by June 1
No refund after June 1

To register, log on to www.mbgll.org after 8p today. Registration is first come, first served and we do not have enough slots for all teams in our league. So please poll your teams today and register this evening to ensure that you have a reserved spot in MBGLL's Jamboree.

Hello MBGLL town administrators and coaches.

We have added a "join our mailing list" feature. If coaches and board members in your towns are not receiving this e-mail and would like to, please add them to our distribution list via this feature on our web site. If you are receiving this e-mail and are no longer involved with MBGLL, please let me know and I'll remove you from our mailing list.

I want to let everyone know that Johns Hopkins University is hosting a coach's training session in Acton on December 10, 2011. US Lacrosse is offering 5 Continuing Education Points to participants. Please see the flyer on our Lax Players Clinics, Camps, and Tryouts Blog (on www.mbgll.org under technology) for details and to register. Please note that MBGLL is not hosting this training.

As a reminder, team registrations are open. Coaches may also now register for the Positive Coaching Alliance, Rules Clinic, and Rules Q. and A. sessions. Parents and Athletes are encouraged to register now for the Positive Coaching Alliance clinics. Please visit www.mbgll.org to register. Coaches may register for the US Lacrosse Level 1 and Level 2 coach's training sessions at www.uslacrosse.org.
